Battle Scarecrow Festival
Location: Battle

Follow the trail of scarecrows made from recycled materials throughout the town of Battle and vote for your favourite. Many groups and organisations have made a scarecrow to represent themselves, for example St Mary's Church has a bride and groom. There are fifty scarecrows in all. Man on the Moon

Rare photographs celebrate 40 years of Man on the Moon Curated by Lucy Bell, Nichola Bruce and Alastair Fairley Man on the Moon is a major touring exhibition celebrating man’s greatest technological achievement with a unique collection of photography, moving image and real-life artefacts of space exploration. Norman Hawks and Arrows

Raphael Falconry present a variety of hawks, owls and falcons at Battle Abbey, Battle. Learn about the role of falconers in Norman times and why they had to keep their bird's feathers in top condition. Robert Tressell Festival 2009

Hastings Day

King Harold lost the Battle of Hastings on October 14th 1066 and in 1966 the 900th anniversary was celebrated and it was such a success that Hastings Borough Council decided to celebrate the 14th October each year as Hastings Day and it is now part of Hastings Week.
