Old Photo of Battle
16th January 2012
I have a magic lantern slide of The Hounds, Meeting at Battle. It was taken around 1900-1915 and shows 4 mounted horsemen surrounded by their hounds, standing in front of a large brick built house.
If anyone is interested, please contact me.

Cattle Trough in Battle
11th January 2012
Maybe there are records somewhere in Battle Town Council's archives?
I don't remember it personally but I hear there was once a drinking trough on the "triangle" (what is now the roundabout near the library)

Hello,
I am emailing from Melbourne Australia. Myself and my siblings are researching our family history and recording it on ancestry.com We have so far reached back as far as the mid. 1600s when our ancestors came from Battle. The family name is Eldridge and include William(1545- 1648), John (1570 - 1666) and others. It's a long shot, but just wondering if there are any decendants with the Eldridge name still living in Battle.
Any information is helpful and appreciated.
Regards,
Carolyn

My daughter and I were very impressed by the re-enactement this year. We had a long visit of both campments, we found the realism of the warriors astonishing. As a game we tried to find any anachronisms, we found nothing, they were perfect like professionals in the film industry, we thank their engagement and their considerable drive.
I have just a question, we think have recognised the commentator as a famous English actor, were we right? Would anyone the kindness to tell us who was he?
